New projects

Yes, thats plural. Currently Im working on not one, but two projects! Im going to be talking a little bit about both in this blog post. But first I want to say that everything I talk about here is subject to change. This is true in general, but especially with Oculus Rift (VR) development I think. Some things work better in VR than other things and through experimentation you can figure out what works and what doesnt.

Linger Gameplay

In my previous post I mentioned that there was little to no response to the release of Linger. Well, I was very happy to discover that two people have taken the time to play through Linger and post a video of their experience online. It was a thrill watching someone else discover everything. And their commentary while playing really helped to figure out what works, what doesn't work and what are just annoying bugs (can someone say door).

Linger Postmortem

The first few days of the VR Jam were tricky. So many possibilities, so little time. But after doing some tests I decided on creating Eschers Relativity in VR. I was pretty sure if I could pull something like this off (with all the weird gravity issues) it could be a potential winner. I had already begun working on it, when I stumbled upon a forum post of someone else who was doing Eschers Relativity. Apparently my idea wasnt as original as I thought. And because I didnt want to be in direct competition with someone else, I decided to create something completely different. Having watched the movie Paranormal Activity the night before I was inspired to make the best haunted house experience possible.
